Today the principle collaborators, stakeholders and communities of Lewes congregated at The Depot to launch The Phoenix Planning Application.

Chaired by Katie Derham, presentations by Jonathan Smales, Daniel Rea and Robert Sakula were followed by a panel featuring Human Nature chairman David Cowans; Cany Ash of Ash Sakula; Kelly Harrison of engineers Whitby Wood; local writer and activist Juliet Oxborrow; and Professor Raphie Kaplinsky.

Welcome to Alberto Campagnoli who recently joined the practice as an Associate. Alberto is an Architect with a strong interest in regenerative processes and the civic role of landscape architecture.

Last weekend we hosted an Open City Accelerate workshop in our office, the theme for the day was stewardship and sustainability. It was a pleasure to engage with this class of brilliant young people and see Accelerate promoting different roles and routes into working in the built environment sector. Later in the academic year the practice will be mentoring two young people from Hackney.

Congratulations to Kirsty Badenoch who has been promoted to Associate Director while continuing in her role as Head of Research. Kirsty leads our Grand Challenges collaboration with UCL, a number of client facing projects including our work with BeFirst and NI Environment Link; she also continues to teach at The Bartlett School of Architecture and lecture internationally.

Our work at Meridian Water Station has been included in Network Rail's Station design guidance as a national exemplar.

Earlier this month we joined our LondonOn colleagues in submitting a proposal for Grønlikaia waterfront.

Our team is assigned a central parcel in the final phase of the dock rehabilitation on the eastern shores of the Oslo Fjord. We have been exploring how the city meets the sea and what that can mean for social interaction and underwater ecology. The results will be announced in early 2023.

Out team together with Nyima Murry have been out on site shooting B-roll for a film about moving rivers in Enfield. This will be a four year project documenting what it takes to move a river and recover a landscape.

Welcome to Ellen Nankivell who recently joined the practice as a Part One Architectural Assistant. Ellen graduated from the Bartlett and has a strong interest in the relationship between landscape, architecture and time-based design solution.

Sandy Rompotiyoke has been promoted to Architect following successful completion of the Professional Practice in Architecture course at London Metropolitan University. We're all excited for Sandy to have reached this milestone, she has been working with the practice for four years and plays a critical role in projects large and small, the team looks forward to her continued collaboration.⁠

Welcome to Stacey Lewis who has joined the practice as an Architect. Stacey joins us following a period travelling in Italy, having qualified as an Architect earlier this year. She previously worked for Adams & Sutherland and Lynch Architects.

We are excited to be opening Microscope, our new public-fronting workshop in connection with our office in Dalston. Microscope is a new investigative space for talking, thinking and testing with natural processes.

Daniel Rea will be joining Rafe Bertram of Enfield Council, Pooran Desai of One Planet, Gabriela Costa of Useful Projects and Gilli Hobbs of Net Positive Solutions at Footprint+ in Brighton on 7th June. We’ve joined Haptic and the LondonOn team to work on the Parallel Commission stage of the Grønlikaia Waterfront competition for Hav Eiendom AS. The project involves the recovery of the docks for homes and social infrastructure and is one of the last to be proposed on the Olso Fjord. Find out more in this link.

Welcome to Olivia Hoy who recently joined the practice as a Part One architectural assistant. Olivia graduated from the Bartlett where her projects engaged with groups of non-architects working towards more inclusive forms of practice. She is interested in celebrating local narratives to encourage greater agency in our environments

We're excited to announce that we've won a new project at Gascoigne Road with Be First, its a co-design project to better connect community facilities across this historically disconnected place and begin to make safe the street for residents new and old.⁠

Welcome to Teagan Dorsch who recently joined the practice as a researcher. Teagan recently completed his MA in Situated Practice at The Bartlett and holds a BA in Architecture from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is interested in ecological notation, tectonics, and material processes.

Welcome to Piotr Kruk who has joined the practice as a Part Two Architectural Assistant. Piotr recently completed his masters degree at the LSA after studying at the Glasgow School of Art. He is interested in resilient urban design strategies, circular economies and shaping places through our collective narratives.

Welcome to Rebecca Faulkner who has joined the practice as a Spatial Practitioner. Rebecca recently completed her masters degree at Central Saint Martin’s after studying at the Manchester School of Architecture. She is interested in the performative possibilities of the built environment, the impact of over extracted resources and declining industrial landscapes.
