Little Holland
The Little Holland project will provide 160 new homes in Norwich. The site sits adjacent to the Whitlingham Country Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty at the interface between the Norfolk Broads National Park and the City of Norwich.
Working with our client Human + Nature, we are developing this former industrial site into a place which learns from Dutch housing typologies and has landscape, the Norfolk vernacular and the natural wetlands at its core. Our proposals include studies for the central street, parking courts and private gardens which are designed to allow access to the river and will be transformed through flooding into riverine dioramas. Periscope is also studying the design of four pavilion buildings that stand at the head of the island site as well as narrow apartment typologies that are arranged around a communal external courtyard.
